Just a quick note to inform you that we are having a pattern contest at Hodges Hobbies this  weekend, Saturday and Sunday. This will be the "old style ballistic pattern" planes with retracts and tuned pipes.

We are still on for the full scale Cub fly-in tomorrow. Cubs should arrive sometime between 9 and 11 AM. Mr. Harrell will be serving BBQ at 12 noon and we will have a nice model show right after we eat. We will be flying the B-29 and X-1 in addition to some other nice acts.

See you tomorrow, Mac

SEFF 2012 is now in the books. We had a good turnout, approximately 400 pilots. Everyone had a good time in spite of the wind earlier in the week. The wind finally calmed down Friday and Saturday and we had some good flying. The noon demos Friday and Saturday were outstanding. New SEFF head man Matt Klos took over the reins from Jeff Meyers and did an outstanding job with the help of his fellow Fayette Flyers. Jeff had been in charge of SEFF for the past 10 years.

Bill was shooting a video with his hexacopter Friday evening and just happened to catch a DLG contacting the powerline on the west end of the field. Here is a link to the video...look for the flash  . This video also gives a good overview of SEFF.

This Saturday, May 5, we have rescheduled the full scale Cub fly-in. The Cubs should be coming in about 9 to 11 AM and we will have Mr. Harrell serving BBQ at 12 Noon. After lunch we will have a model demo which will include the B-29 and X-1.

Tonight you can tune into www.rcradionetwork.com at 8:30 PM to hear a live radio program from Atlanta Hobby with Cliff and the gang discussing SEFF and other interesting topics.

Hope to see you Saturday, Mac

Just a note to remind everyone that SEFF is starting this coming Monday, April 23. I had mistakenly said the date was May 23 in the last email. I've had a few people mention my error so I'm now correcting that. One thing I learned from this is that Bill is useless as a proofreader. Come to think of it Bill is usel....oh, never mind.

Also remember that the full scale Cub fly-in scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled and moved to Saturday May 5. The forecast for this Saturday was just too iffy to expect Cubs to fly in from any distance.

Take care..see you next week, Mac

The Pop Curtis Memorial Fly-In held this past weekend was a great success. We had a good crowd on Friday and the weather was great. It then rained Friday night and Saturday morning. Normally, I would be wanting the rain to hold off but we had been so dry it was nice to get rain and didn't complain. The rain quit right after lunch Saturday and the afternoon and evening were beautiful and there was a lot of flying. I flew the B-29 Saturday afternoon as well as Friday. Alex Barron really put on a show flying over the pond Saturday afternoon.

We hope to sprig grass sometime in the next few days. Hopefully we will start getting some rain to keep the grass growing and also fill up the pond.

The Dixie Aeromasters are having their spring fly-in April 14.

We are having a full scale Cub fly-in April 21 followed by SEFF starting officially on Monday April 23 and going through Saturday April 28.

Take care, Mac
